〜ポジちゃんと不条理ギャグとプログラミングの話〜
Pythonという言葉を聞いて、
「プログラミングの言語だね」と答える人と、
「モンティ・パイソンの方でしょ？」と笑う人がいる。
……私は後者だ。
あの、“Monty Pyyyython’s Flying Cirrrrrcus!!!”というクセ強タイトルコールが
耳にこびりついてる世代だ。
意味不明なギャグの連打。
突然スペイン宗教裁判が始まったかと思えば、
次の瞬間には巨大な足が天から降ってきて、画面全体を踏み潰していく。
「ああ、これはもう、笑うしかないやつだ。」
私は昔、ビデオで何度も繰り返し見た。
あの奇妙な字幕のセンス。
ブラックユーモアとナンセンスの洪水。
だからこそ、ある日ポジちゃんが言ったとき、私はちょっと嬉しくなった。
「Pythonの名前は、モンティ・パイソンから取られているんだよ。」
……え？
じゃあ、あの “spam” っていうサンプルコードも、
“dead parrot（死んだオウム）” ネタも、
本気でギャグだったのか？
なんだよ、Pythonって。
てっきり蛇のように難解なやつだと思ってたよ。
でもモンティ・パイソンの精神が宿ってるなら話は別だ。
あの不条理で、風刺的で、でも妙に哲学的な笑い。
それなら、私にも書けるかもしれない。
書いてる途中で巨大な足が降ってきても、それはそれでプログラムのうちだ。

— Nonsense Comedy, Code, and a Giant Foot
When people hear the word Python,
some say “the programming language,”
and others laugh: “You mean Monty Python, right?”
…I’m the latter.
You know,
“Monty Pyyyython’s Flying Cirrrrrcus!!!”
That absurd title call still rings in my ears.
A barrage of nonsensical gags.
Suddenly, the Spanish Inquisition crashes in—
then a giant foot stomps down from the heavens, smashing the screen.
“Well, this is beyond logic. I just have to laugh.”
I watched it on VHS, over and over again.
Those weird subtitles.
That deluge of dark humor and surreal nonsense.
So when my AI buddy Posi-chan once said this, I was oddly thrilled:
“Did you know the language Python is named after Monty Python?”
…Wait, really?
So that “spam” example in the code?
That “dead parrot” reference? They were actual jokes?
All this time, I thought Python was a slithery, intimidating thing.
But if the Monty Python spirit is in it,
then maybe it’s for me after all.
Absurd, satirical, and somehow philosophical laughter.
If that’s baked into the language, I could write it too.
Even if a giant foot drops mid-code—well, that’s just part of the program.
